Two-Day Virtual Training: Become an Expert Safe Dates Facilitator
Designed expressly for young people ages 12 and above, the third edition of Safe Dates: A Teen Relationship Abuse Prevention Curriculum is an evidence-based program that equips young people with the skills needed to create and foster positive relationships.
Join our prevention specialists as they guide you through the highly interactive and engaging Safe Dates curriculum. At the completion of this two-day virtual training, you'll feel empowered to effectively teach healthy relationship skills to adolescents and teens in a way that they deeply relate to, preparing them to foster caring and supportive connections.
Attendees will earn 10 CEs
6.5 hours/day, including breaks and lunch.
- Understand the risks and impacts of physical, sexual and emotional violence
- Build confidence in equipping teens of all diversities to create caring, supportive and healthy relationships via positive communication, anger management and conflict resolution
- Practice the skill building and experiential learning necessary to expertly facilitate the program in any community-based setting
- Recognize how to successfully administer the Safe Dates program with fidelity
Gizelle Alvarez

Alvarez holds a bachelor's and a master's in public health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Since joining the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's Prevention Solutions team in 2022, she has served as the primary data analyst and manager, focusing on projects that increase organizational and client prevention effectiveness.
Christina Bowsher

Bowsher holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Savannah College of Art and Design and is currently pursuing a master's degree in addiction counseling from Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School.

Please check with your board to confirm credits. A CE certificate is emailed upon completion of post-course evaluations. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period:11/22/23-11/22/26. Social workers completing this course receive 10 continuing education credits.
- Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0529. The Graduate School is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Graduate School maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. The Graduate School is an NBCC approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP # 6547, and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. The Graduate School is approved to provide continuing education by CAADE Provider # CP40 975 C 0325, CCAPP Provider Number 1N-88-160-1227, CADTP provider # 125, and CA BRN CEP 16722.
